Transformers 3 To Begin Filming In Chicago July 4th

Reel Chicago reports that Michael Bay and company will be coming to Chicago, IL starting on May 10 of this year to begin work on Transformers 3. Starting on July 4 they will begin filming for 7 weeks. This will be one of two places, Moscow being the other, where they will focus on "big action sequences".

In a meeting with producers last winter, Rich Moskal director of the Chicago Film Office recalls Mayor Daley being okay with Bay's shooting request, as he saw real value for the city with them coming to do the scenes. They will film scenes for Transformers 3 along Michigan Avenue and throughout the Loop;

Starting May 10 Transformers 3 will work out of Chicago Film Studios Chicago (the Ryerson steel plant), occupying 300,000 sq. ft. for offices, stages, construction, wardrobe, transportation, etc., according to studio manager Alex Pisseos.

Scheduled for a July 1, 2011 release, Transformers 3 is expected to provide the greatest amount of local union employment since “Public Enemies” filmed here in 2008.
